About the lecturers
Kaushalesh
Lal, an Indian citizen, joined UNU-INTECH, now UNU-MERIT, in May 2003.
His area of specialization is the diffusion of Information and
Communication Technologies (ICTs) in developing countries. He has
published several research papers on the causes and consequences of the
adoption of ICTs in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Dr. Lal's
research interests include the role of institutional, legal, and
technological infrastructure in the transformation of business
activities into e-business. He is also studying the problems and
prospects of Open Source Software, particularly in developing
countries. Dr. Lal was previously Associate Professor at the Institute
of Economic Growth, Delhi, India. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in
Physics from Kanpur University, M.Sc. in Operations Research from
University of Delhi and Ph.D. degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam,
The Netherlands.
Rossitza Rousseva has a
background in technology and innovation management, and science and
technology policy. Her areas of expertise are innovation management,
knowledge management, capability development, strategic intent, and ICT
sector. More broadly her research interests revolve around technology
development, ICT industries, and innovation policy, with special focus
on EU and new member states, and emerging economies. Her research
specialisation is in development of software industries with special
focus on capability building and innovation activities in latecomer
software companies. She holds a PhD in Innovation Management from
Institute of Economics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and MSc in
Science and Technology Policy from Science and Technology Policy
Research (SPRU), UK, and is finalising her DPhil in Technology and
Innovation Management in SPRU, UK.
